WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOOING?

Cosmetic tattooing—also known as semi-permanent makeup—uses a specialised tattoo machine to gently implant pigment/ink into the top layers of the skin, adding natural-looking colour and definition to your brows, lips, or other areas. Unlike traditional tattoos, the pigment sits more superficially in the skin, so the results look softer and fade gradually over time.

This treatment is perfect for anyone who wants to wake up with their makeup already done or enhance their features without daily effort or harsh makeup lines. While the pigment can remain in the skin indefinitely, it will fade due to environmental factors, aging, your health, or the lightness of the chosen pigment. DOES COSMETIC TATTOOING HURT? IS NUMBING USED?

A topical anesthetic can be used before and during the treatment processes to alleviate any pain.

Each client has different pain thresholds so feeling will differ between clients.

Most clients describe the first 10 minutes of tattooing as a light scratching feeling, half of our clients fall asleep during the tattoo procedure.

HOW LONG DO APPOINTMENTS PROCEDURE TAKE?

'Initial appointments' take approximately 3 hours depending on the tattoo style you have chosen and how your skin behaves during the tattoo process.

'Perfection' and annual 'Colour Boost' appointments are for approximately 1-1.5 hour unless advised differently.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT STRAIGHT AFTER THE TREATMENT?

After your treatment, the colour will appear 30-40% darker than your chosen colour. Any swelling or redness will go down within 48 hours. However, this will soften as the skin heals. The area will generally feel a tiny bit tender such as a light sunburn immediately after the treatment and will only last for a few hours.
As the area heals, you will experience itching. This is a good sign.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT APPOINTMENTS?

Initial Appointment is your first appointment with Honey. Initial appointments consist of a thorough consultation, mapping your facial features, design process, treatment and after-care instructions.

Perfection Appointment is your small second follow up appointment where the design and tattoo from the Initial Appointment is perfected. This appointment takes place 6-8 weeks after Initial Appointment.

Colour Boost Appointment is your annual Colour Boost. This appointment keeps your cosmetic tattoo fresh, revitalised and brings the colour back to life. These appointments are exclusively discounted to my returning clients only.

HOW LONG DO COSMETIC TATTOOS LAST?

Results vary based on your skin, lifestyle, and the area tattooed.

Brow tattoos (Nano Feather, Ombre, Combo): 12–36 months
Lip Blush and Freckle Tattoos: 12–36 months

Longevity depends on skin type, sun exposure, skincare, and how well you take care of the tattoo. Most clients come back every 12–24 months for a 'Colour Boost' appointment to keep things fresh.

'Colour Boost' appointments to return and refresh your tattoo at Honey are exclusively discounted for returning clients only.

WHAT WILL AFFECT MY COSMETIC TATTOO?

Factors that can affect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo:

Excessive sun exposure - Fades the colour of the pigment
Lighter pigment choice - Fades quicker than a dark pigment
Bleeding during the treatment - Pigment does not retain in the skin properly. Blood thinners, alcohol consumption, coffee and certain medications can cause excess bleeding.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET A COSMETIC TATTOO TREATMENT?

Due to QLD law, you must be 18 years and older.

SHOULD I WAX, TINT OR LAMINATE MY BROWS PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT?

ARE COSMETIC TATTOOS SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

At your appointment, your brows will be shaped accordingly.
However if you have quite bushy eyebrows, please get a wax 2 weeks prior.
Do not tint, henna or laminate your eyebrows for minimum of 4 weeks prior to your appointment. These products alter your skin which will affect the healed result.

IS COSMETIC TATTOOING SAFE?

Yes! At Honey Cosmetic Tattoo, your safety comes first. We use hospital-grade hygiene, single-use needles, all disposable tools, and medical-grade pigments. All treatments are performed in a licensed and council-approved Gold Coast studio, not an illegal home salon.

No, you cannot be tattooed if you are:

Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Taking blood thinngers or Roaccutane
Have certain health conditions (ask your doctor or contact us to check)

WILL MY COSMETIC TATTOO CHANGE COLOUR OR FADE UNEVENLY?

With proper technique, premium pigments, and good aftercare, your tattoo will fade softly and naturally. Harsh colour changes usually result from poor aftercare, sun exposure, or inexperienced technicians. We only use the industry’s best pigments and methods.

BOOKING & DEPOSIT FAQ'S

DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT AND IS IT REFUNDABLE?

Yes, a $150 deposit is required to secure every booking.
This makes you responsible for your appointment time slot.

Your appointment is not confirmed until the deposit is paid.
The entire amount of the deposit will be deducted off the remaining total at your appointment.
Please note, this deposit is strictly non-refundable under any circumstances, including cancellations, change of mind, or emergencies. This policy is firm for all clients.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, you must provide at least 72 hours’ notice. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 72 hours’ notice, your deposit will be forfeited and you’ll need to pay a new deposit to make another booking. Failure to show up to your appointment or cancel last minute will automatically be charged the full appointment cost.This policy is to respect our small businesses time and applies to all reasons, including illness or last-minute changes, due to the large chunk of time allocated for each client.

DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT AND IS IT REFUNDABLE?

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and your deposit will be lost. This is to ensure the next client’s appointment is not delayed and to maintain the quality of service for everyone. If you know you’re running late, please contact Honey as soon as possible, but understand that the full deposit will still be forfeited if you miss the cut-off.
Please plan your day ahead and always expect traffic to avoid this.

HOW DO I RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT WITH ENOUGH NOTICE?

You have the power. You are able to reschedule your appointment anytime with at least 72 hours’ notice by using my secure online booking system or by following the big link at the bottom of your confirmation email.
If you have trouble, contact the studio directly as soon as possible.
